The things that matter

The things that matter are the best
The feeling of life, love, or even death

As we grow older these things matter more
No matter if you are rich or poor

When a loved one passes on it makes our heart sore
But it only makes things matter more

A new friend (bark)That damn dog is driving
(bark) me up the wall; I don't (bark bark)
think I can take this much (bark) longer.
Though-
he (bark) is kinda
cute in his (bark) own way.
(bark bark bark)

I guess I can keep him.

Unorthodox, uplifting
Simple yet complex
Indescribable by all accounts
Comforting to the soul

Dear Words...Dear Words,

You've cut me, you've sewn me
You've raised me, you've grown me
You've made me, you've known me
ever since the night I spoke.

You've built me, you've blocked me
You've freed me, you've locked me
You've helped me, you've mocked me
with a dream that you awoke.

You've held me, you've drowned me
Your form unknown around me
You've lost me, you've found me
Your woven threads confound me

You've moved me, you've bound me
Your depth and length enshroud me
And all the while you ground me
To a world unfit for you.

And silently you stir
Beneath the crevice of my youth.
A double-sided knife
would be an understated truth.

Deteriorating SadnessSometimes the sadness deteriorates inside of you,
And you're not sure of where the feeling went.
The mind forces you to feel too heartless to argue,
Yet it's enough to slowly make you torment.
The misshapen entity called "hope" sticks like glue,
But it frightens you too much to comment.
People around you don't notice your inferior issue,
So your mood doesn't lead to any event.
Your "heartlessness" is too far along to undo,
So you accept it, not feeling the least content.

I don't understand honey...What?
I don't know what you're talking about honey
When you go on and on about all the bad shit you see
Every word you speak is leaking
leaking of sorrow
leaking of pain
I don't see it like that hun'
'Cause all I see is the good times we had
I see your smiling face
'cause you beat me in this game too
I hear your laughter
and teasing words
as I'm being all silly again
I feel your arms around me
as you pull me closer
in a hug to make me feel safe again
'cause you've scared me with that spider-thing again
All I see is smiling faces and sparkle-eyes
All I hear is a laughing couple sharing the secret of love
All I feel is butter

ScatteredI felt like a child on my palms and knees
Fingers sweeping the floorboards
like a beggar searching for scattered marbles.

I will find them all.

EagleHow would it feel to fly high through the sky?
No worries and feeling lighter than a fly
Looking down on the world
Just waiting for the future to unfold

The eagle flies high and free
Over land and over sea
Not a thing on your mind
Being taken away by the wind

It flies gracefully through the sky
And all I can do is sigh
It leaves the world in peace
So why can't we leave the world in peace?

Don't just leave a better world for the humans
But for the other forms of life as well

Better Than I Know MyselfI take a look in the mirror,
And I see this person.
She's me, the real me.

Pressing my hand against the glass,
It feels like she's actually real.
Like I could reach in,
And take her hand.

She knows my secret, my fears, my dreams,
She knows what I have been through,
Because she's been there too.

She's strong, and confident,
Everything I hide on this side.
She's the only person, who knows me,
Better than I know myself.

She's fallen, rose above,
She's been scared, loved, sad,
And so much more.

She lets me see who I have become,
And she knows that scars that I have carried.
I guess you could say she's my best friend.

The Super Hero DreamThe Super Hero Dream.

Since I was young I've always had this reoccurring dream.

As immature and juvenile at it may seem.

I'd have this one fantasy…

That me and my peers were apart of a heroic, super natural team.

We would serve and protect the world from impending doom.

But every morning I always end up waking up too soon.

I would stir and gaze around my marvel inspired room.

And attempt to…

Move objects with just will of my mind.

Completely alter my anatomical design.

Teleport in and out of realties and dimensions.

Communicate with anyone via a telepathic connection.

Have an invulnerable metal emerge from my knuckles.

UselessI need something to get this ticking out of my mind.
Not love or lust.
I'm in need of no friend or foe.
My enemies despise who I've become.
I used to smile and laugh.
A butterfly of the social life.
My world has darkened and I have submerged myself within it's shadows.
There's no light here.

The ticking has made me numb.
I can no longer feel.
I'm no longer human.
Was I ever?

Emotions are nothing to me now.
Just ink on a fading page.

There's nothing left to give.
Nowhere to hide my pain.

This creature I've become has eaten at everything I love.
Burnt walls and crooked window panes.

I'm nothing now.

One Day It'll Make SenseI hope that one day it'll all make sense,

But until then I'm stuck living in the past-tense,

This isn't my choice, it's against my will,

Because I can't tell my brain how to feel,

They say we grow from our life experiences,

But I'm struggling to do that, in all seriousness,

People tell me that I have a beautiful skill,

That I can make one feel my mind by words that are real,

But lately I find it to be more of a burden,

Thoughts that I can't stop from turning,

One day...I hope not so far away,

I just may...actually make it, to their dismay.

Song of a Dying Bird

Have you heard how soft
the songbird sings,
and of how he sits
so delicately in solitude?

Have you heard his song
ringing so clear and true,
above the sounds of his choir
resonating across the land?

Have you heard how soft
the songbird sings,
as he waits clad in beauty
for a mate that will never come?

LunaI am holding a treasure
in my two hands; it is warm
and surprisingly light against my chest,
a tiny thing humming with contentment,
purring and clawing at me simultaneously,
and I am being flooded with admiration
for something so alive and so precious
with such bright green eyes.

UnemploymentThe search endless
Positions filled
A useless girl

Parents disappointed
Uncomfortable feel
Never ending sorrow

Nervous future
A light unseen
Unemployment

When you're quiet and shy

People treat you like the plaque

They don't even know why you're like

Nor do they try to understand you

I guess when you're quiet and shy

You're just afraid to speak your mind

And when you try to speak your mind

Nobody listens to you

So you end up giving up

But you shouldn't

You should keep trying till you succeed

One day you will succeed

All you have to do is believe in

I can totally relate to this. I've been struggling with this my whole life and even still I have a hard time overcoming this sometimes.

You'll get there eventually.

The thing I try to do is at least respond to people when they talk to me. If I couldn't understand them; I'll ask them to repeat themselves, or just try to decipher what they said if time's short.
